Self Help Guide
Get Yourself Back on Track
Here at Debt Consultancy Service we understand it can be difficult to ask for help, which is why we have put together some self-help guides. These can be completed and sent to the creditors if you feel you do not need to look at a debt solution but just need a little bit of help, if you are struggling to complete the forms you can call our team on 01392 91100.
Creditor List
You can download a creditor list template here:
Income and Expenditure
If you are looking to set up a payment plan with your creditors they will ask to see a copy of your income and expenditure.
We have created an easy to use template to help you, just remember when completing your income and expenditure you will need to:
- Remember to include all bills for example if you pay and insurance annually you can add the monthly amount to your income and expenditure
- Include costs for all dependants in the household
- A bank statement can help completing the income and expenditure so you have more accurate figures
- Include all incomes
Token Payment Letter
If you have recently had a change in circumstances or are unable to maintain your contractual payments you can request your creditors accept a token payment plan as a temporary solution until your circumstances improve or you look at a formal debt solution.
- Always offer what you can afford to pay
- Include the creditors account number, name and address so they can locate your account
- Include a copy of your income and expenditure if you have recently had a change in circumstances
- Explain your change in circumstances or reason you are unable to maintain payment
Stop Payments Letter
If you are unable to make any payments to your creditors you can request a payment break, it is best to contact the creditor to explain why you are unable to make payments and request the interest and charges are frozen whilst you are unable to pay.
- Include a copy of your income and expenditure showing you are unable to make payments
- Explain the reason you are unable to pay and how long you want payments to be put on hold
- Include the creditors account number, name and address so they can locate your account
